WHO ARE WE

We are a Spanish non government organisation working in Senegal since 2002. Our objective is to contribute to sustainable development in areas of extreme poverty in the third world. We are developing this general aim in four areas: health, education, infrastructure and conservation and dissemination of cultural values.

To achieve our aim we build, set up and maintain ecological tourism camps (accommodation for travellers respectful of the environment) in areas of great ecological, cultural or ethnological importance, highlighting the unique characteristics of the territories where we operate. We use the camps as a base for our work. In addition, we have a number of development projects.

The neighbouring villages are the main beneficiaries since they build the camps, and have access to the direct and indirect jobs created through the existence of the camps. Villagers have the opportunity to work in management roles and we provide them with the necessary training for different tasks. These villages receive the benefits created by having the camps near them and this contributes to their quality of life. This economic model of sustainability aims to provide a positive outcome for future generations. The resources remain in the region.

We also organize expeditions and trips to the camps to know them and support development projects. We call it “Active Ecotourism”.
